O Sensei Jorge Monteiro iniciou o treino alertando para a importância da etiqueta do dojo, dos valores incutidos pelo Karate e pelo respeito pelos mais graduados e karatecas com mais anos de treino. Referiu ainda que o Karate deve ser encarado como uma forma de dar continuidade à educação dos nossos pais e familiares e que sem ela o karateca se perde facilmente do verdadeiro ‘Caminho’ das artes marciais.
Das 9h às 12h o treino foi inteiramente dedicado às katas Heishugata (Sanchin, Kanryo Higaonna Sanchin e Tensho) e às Katas Kayshugata (da Gekisai dai Ichi à Kururunfa). Foram ainda abordados pontos a ter em atenção para o exame como o San Dan Gi, o Ju Ippon Kumite, as Bunkais das Katas e a Renzoku Bunkai da Gekisai dai Ichi.
